Finding a Person of Peace

June 9, 2026

Scripture: Luke 10:5–6, ESV
“Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you.”

Imagine This…

Imagine standing in front of two doors. One is locked tight. You push, pull, and try harder, but nothing moves. The other door opens with a simple touch.

Sometimes the issue is not your effort.

The door simply is not open.

Jesus reminds us that spiritual conversations often work the same way. We are not called to force open every door. We are called to notice where God may already be opening one.

What is there to learn:

In Luke 10, Jesus sends His followers into real towns, homes, and relationships. He tells them to look for receptivity — a person of peace.

Three truths help us live this out:

  1. God Prepares People Before We Arrive.
We do not create spiritual hunger. God is already stirring questions, burdens, curiosity, and openness.
  2.
  3. Receptivity Matters.
A person of peace may not look religious, but they may linger in conversation, share a need, ask honest questions, or         welcome your care.
  4.
  5. Mission Begins Where We Already Are.
Our kingdom platform is where we work, live, and play. God uses ordinary places and ordinary relationships to ignite the    enduring hope of Jesus.

Bold Steps of Faith:

This week, start with prayer instead of pressure.

  • Ask God to show you who may already be open.
  •
  • Notice who keeps sharing, asking, or lingering.
  •
  • Listen longer than normal.
  •
  • Ask one thoughtful question.
  •
  • Take one simple step toward a relationship.

Do not force the moment.

Look for the door God is already opening.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Who around me seems open to a relationship or spiritual conversation?
  2.
  3. Where might I be trying to force a closed door?
  4.
  5. What one faithful step can I take this week?

Prayer

“Lord, show me the person You are already preparing. Help me notice the open door and give me courage to take one faithful step.”
